Adobe's headquarters spans three office towers with over one million square feet of office space, making it the largest corporate presence in downtown San Jose, California. Over the past several years, Adobe has initiated more than 70 energy and conservation projects to improve the site's environmental sustainability. As a result, they have reduced:

- Domestic water use by 38%
- Landscaping water use by 76%
- Electricity use by 39%
- Natural gas use by 41%

These documented improvements earned the site three Platinum-level LEED certifications from the U.S. Green Building Council, ranking it as one of the most environmentally sound business facilities in the world. Their initiatives at the Adobe San Francisco office earned that site LEED Platinum certification as well.

The approximately 2,100 employees at Adobe's San Jose campus actively engage in recycling and composting programs that divert up to 97 percent of the site's solid waste from landfills. Paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, cans, printer toner cartridges, and batteries are recycled, and food waste is composted. Similar programs are being deployed and expanded where possible throughout Adobe's more than 80 facilities worldwide.

Their sustainable manufacturing practices extend across the entire supply chain. These programs include reduction of shipping materials, inventory management, scrap recycling, and safe and respectful working conditions.

Now the company has put a dozen 100-kilowatt Bloom Energy fuel cells on top of a parking garage that will supply nearly a third of the three tower complex’s electricity.

Over the period from 2001 through 2009, Adobe invested a total of $2.7 million in 70 separate energy and related conservation projects in its headquarters buildings alone.

Additional and future projects are being evaluated for viability, supporting Adobe’s ongoing commitment to improving operating efficiency and reducing Adobe’s environmental footprint.
